Celebrate Matt’s 50th Birthday

Help Matt Bring His First Book Into the World

a community birthday gift for those who couldn’t celebrate with us in June

Dear Friends,

On June 13th, we gathered with friends and family to celebrate Matt’s 50th birthday. It waas a beautiful day filled with laughter, stories, music, and the people who have walked alongside us over the years.

We also know many of you couldn’t be there.

We wanted to create one more way to celebrate this milestone together.

A Year of Quiet Courage

If you know Matt, you know he rarely asks for anything. He’s usually the ones behind the scenes– building, repairing, accounting, creating, making music, solving problems, or quietly making sure everyone else has what they need.

The past year has been a challenging one.

While living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), Matt has continued to help steward Moya, often carrying significant financial responsibility to keep our shared vision of intentional community and mentorship alive. None of it has been easy, yet he continues to create.

This year he has:

  • Completed his PSP certification

  • Continued writing his book that has been growing inside him for years

  • Begun his first installation art project

  • Organized and preserved years of his music.

  • Helped create spaces at Moya where community, creativity, and belonging can flourish

  • Mentored lots of youth

  • Somehow still found room in his heart for two wonderfully goofy stray rescue dogs (to join our 4 cats)

Thorugh everything he has kept returning to one dream: Publishing his first book.

Matt’s Birthday Book Fund

Instead of another birthday gift, we’d love to help bring Matt’s dream into the world. If Matt’s friendship, music, generosity, creativity, or presence has touched your life, we’d love to invite you to be part of his first book.

Your contribution will go directly toward:

  • Professional editing

  • Cover Design

  • Interior Layout

  • ISBN and publishing costs

  • Printing the first edition

  • Website and other related expenses.

Our goal is to raise $6,000– Enought to give his book the launch it deserves.

Every gift, no matter the amount, becomes part of this story.
